whats this sensor for?

hey all,

fitted my de-cat on my 4 today but there is a random sensor that im not sure what its for.
there was no hole in the de-cat for it so at first i just unplugged it but what looks like a "cat light" on the dash started flashing at me so i plugged it back in and threaded it inside the car under the carpet out of the way.
so, what is it, do i need it, will things go wrong if its not in use?
cheers for your help.
jon.

it just plugs into your cat an if the cat is fucked then the light will come on the dash so its telling you the cats fucked or in your case its not pluged into the cat. if you cant live with the light on the dash then conect the wires together. jobs a good un

It's actually a cat temperature sensor in case it gets too hot... most people just leave it plugged in and push it back through the hole in the floor then leave it under seat and carpet mate....or you can unplug it and put a wire across and connect both terminals and just tape it all up mate 8)
