Evo II/III Elbow & Downpipe

Hi all,Just removed the screemer elbow and stainless downpipe from my evo II and fitted a turbo elbow and std. downpipe from a III,Car doesnt boost up so quick, only makes .8 -.9 bar max was making 1.1 before, have also lost alot of the torque from the mid range.
Im a bit of a novice to all of this as Im only used to naturally aspirated cars (had a 2ltr 16v 205 gti running 180 bhp before) so sorry If Im sounding a bit dumb, but is it the cast elbow thats caused this loss in power or the change of downpipe ??,or even both?just want the go without the noise !.
Can I wind the turbo back up with simple mechanical adjustments or is it controlled by the Ecu and would therefore require remapping (has a mines ecu on it),Im a bit in the dark.
Cat has been removed although car was rr'd at 271bhp before the screemer elbow, stainless frontpipe and de-cat were fitted.

ops:

Cheers

Tris .

its both m8,if you swapped to a cast e3 elbow its the same diameter as the tube one you have just taken off, however the flange is different on an e3 so your downpipe would need the hole elongating

I fitted a III downpipe also at the same time, should I get the flanges swapped over and refit the stainless downpipe ?

Cheers

You cant fit a e3 dp to an e2 elbow as the bolt holes are narrower?

I have an engineering firm just down the road thats owned by my mates dad was gonna cut the flange of the III pipe and get it welded onto the II stainless one as this has larger id than the std III one.

theres no difference between the size of a e2 or e3 downpipe just the flange that joins to the elbow,so if you had an e3 turbo elbow joined to an e3 downpipe you wont feel any difference from what you had, just less noise

There is a difference between the Evo II & III down pipe. Not only is the flange different but the Evo III down pipe is slightly fatter in internal diameter.
It sounds to me that with the after market screemer & down pipe on you were over boosting which could be dangerous to your engine but now you have put the standerd bits back on all is ok (as supposed to be). To raise the boost back to what you want you will need a boost controller and because you have the std parts back on you can controller the boost in a safer way. Boosing at around 0.8 bar is about right for a more or less standerd set up

oh. Thats strange :???: I have been lead to believe they are different. Mitsi quote they are different when listing there changes from the E2 to the E3 and also all the buyers guides and evo books state they are different :???:
I know they are definatly different between the evo 1 and 3 because when i had my E1 written off and was taking off the exhaust system they were a different size but both standerd. And it does not state a front pipe size change between an E1 & E2 :???:

e3 downpipe standardised the flanges from there on(dp to turbo)so an e4/5/6 flange is the same, tiz the only difference m8 have them all upstairs on the shelf to work from
