Tyres/brakes

Want to be the safest thing on the track lol!

Would AP rears be a good idea before getting the Tommi onto Track?, only the brembos look pretty past it ops:

Best tyres for the Track?, probably very debatable but just something good for now.. Have a spare set of TME wheels to use.

The standard Brembo's on the rear will be fine mate, just stick some decent pads in there

As for tyres, Dunlop DZ02G, Yokohama AO48 or Toyo R888 are all very good options mate, but vary a bit in price

The Dunlop DO1J was the best ever tyre i have used for track (and for others) but is no longer available

I run the AO48 and find them to be nice and progressive, but still lack that 'something' :???:

I'm sure some other track dudes can give their opinion on the other tyres

the brakes setup on your car is more than up to track day work Jon.

As for tyres, you can go on a trackday and enjoy it on your normal road tyres, but if you are wanting to push the car then opt for some 'semi' slicks to get that little more out of it.

I personally would stay away from the R888's on the Evo as they are a soft compound and will 'go off' quick, but they are selling different compounds this year. The dunlops and yoko's are tried and tested on the evo's with good reports. Failing that then you can pick up a set of slicks cheap as they are the same size as the BTCC cars use, but some tracks wont allow this on trackdays, some require you to have a roll cage etc. And TBH driving on slicks as a newbie to it all isnt recommended.

I should be safe with A048 R's then yeah?

will fit out the spare set for the track and get Toyo Proxes for the road.

Might just paint the brembo's the same colour as the AP's then because they look sh!t atm lol.

Cheers guys, anything else I should need in this department?

Jon

Regarding the brakes.

I initially went on the track with standard brake fliud and boiled it, meaning no brakes at 110mph and a corner infront of me  A slightly altered line enabled me to scrub off the speed, but not a nice position to find yourself

I was advised to put EBC discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads all round. I did this before my first track day and have not had any fade (apart from the boiling incident above). Apparently the standard discs and pads fade after a couple of laps ops:

RSE supplied me with the discs, pads and fluid.

Hope that helps,

David

Ok then, suspension....

I have tein flex + EDFC and a cusco front strut brace.

Have a few proflex bushes here, wouldn't mind the whole set on the car. Will these make her stiffer? (ooer)

Thought of a rear brace and front lower too if you think these are of any use?

The bushes will make a nice difference in stiffening the front especially

I found turn in to be a lot crisper when i did mine :-)

Front lower is next on the cards for me

I thought it had just about all of the bushes done?

TBH Jon, just starting out on track the car is more than adequate (sp?) for the job. I personally wouldnt be throwing any money at it just for track incase you dont like it. The car in that spec was able to push the ring taxi around the ring with a Monte Carlo glued onto its back bumper (apart from on high speed sections lol) so should be ok for any UK track with some decent tyres tbh.
