Fair price for a Ralliart ECU?

As per thread title, I've been hunting around for one of these for my 7. I know Bream does them for £550 or so, but I have the chance to get one second hand from Barrie on the MLR for £380 +p&p. It has only done approx 1000 miles on his 7, and is for sale as he is selling his car for an 8.
Opinions please!

I'm pretty sure I can run this on the standard fuel pump, as long as I don't up the boost, and should still see 330bhp or so, so seems a good compromise for now (in time for the RR day too!) 8)

does it really give you a power increase?

I was told that it just removed the rev limiter and changed the idle and changed the fuel management.....

Apparently you get a slight increase in boost, circa 0.15bar, I read that a VII will run 1.3bar on the ralliart ecu with no other changes. A chap on the mlr put one in his VI, and got 330bhp & 292Ib/ft, so no great torque increase, but we'll see.
I'm intending to upgrade the fuel pump & run a dawes at 1.5bar anyway, so it won't be like that forever.
I'll see how it goes, I'm waiting for Barrie to get back to me at the moment to finalise things.

mate from experience at the RR day they are not that fantastic agreed its better than standard ecu though, it does remove the boost cut limit, but basically it just chucks copiuos amounts of petrol through your engine, I recall Eric holmes's one on the rollers was over fuelling big time.

can you run 1.5 bar on a E7 without needing a fuel pump ?

Apparently it can cope up to 380bhp? I'm not convinced, so I'll change it to be safe before upping the boost anyway.

Good price that, I might buy it myself

It is worth buying if you intend to raise the boost now or in the near future, if you don't then I wouldn't. Basically the RA unit has been programmed up to 1.5 bar boost, whereas the standard to 1.2ish, so the fueling is ok. Over 1.5bar the RA unit just maxs out the injectors rather than a controlled way, so this is why its not recommended to run over 1.5.

You can run with a standard fuel pump but this is risky as some OEM units have failed to provide consistant flow rates, and for 130 quid is it worth the risk? Personally I wouldn't run 380 on standard internals, it will probably be ok, most are but some do go bang, again down to risk?

Blinder - YES, if you increase the boost accordingly, if not then I'd say NO. It does not do the things you said, apart from a slightly different map.

Go for it, makes fun EVO even more fun

chishyboy with his 7 has one and no boost controller or pump and it go's well , the ralliart ecu is a good bit of kit and will see you with nearly370/380bhp with a set of 272 cams and boost controller and that will keep up with any other ecu upgrades (with out doing internal work) they also make the fan come on a bit sooneras well i belive and play about with the thermistat.........
