Anti lag systems, intercooler fans and water injection
Ive been doing a bit of reading on the internet and have discoverd that the IV and i guess others actually have the anti lag air injection hardware already fitted to the exhaust manifold for homologation purposes, however theres no software on the car to run it. I wouldnt know what to look for to know if this is true, but i do know what ALS is and what it does. I also know running it severly affects the life of the turbo and stuff but have heard of cars running it where it can be turned off. Is this true??? Whats required to get it going? Or is it far too much hassle......
Any gains to be had from fitting some fans onto the back of the intercooler? Obviously if there is they are at idle and slow speeds, seems the Mr2 can gain from this although i realise the Mr2 hasnt got a FMIC. Up to 10bhp ive seen quoted with the right fan set up, especially on a supercharged engine with a FMIC. A simple water injection system also sounds interesting, using a water/ethanol mix, DIY is possible but i guess kits are out there but is this somthing for a car running increased boost over standard?? Didnt really know where to post so i thought id lump it all together, sorry :???:

As for anti lag mate most mappable ecu,s have the option of anti lag but it will cost you.ive got autronics going on my VI next month and i will have the grin switch fitted (anti lag) you can switch it on and off.as for the other stuff you mentioned my advice is to forget all about it,to many hours reading bullshit mags there me thinks lol. With a good mapable ecu,a boost controller and uprated fuel pump you will be well on the way to the safe limit on standard internals.Im hopeing for 370bhp/350lb torque with mine and unless you have a bottomless money pitt you wont want to go a lot further.your only just down the road from me so pop over when i get mine back and il take you for a run in it.

LOL cheers m8 and yes id quite like a run in it once youve got it back!!!! Thing is at the moment ECU's and all that stuff i just dont have the spare £££££ to get them so the 'bullshit' ive been reading on the internet, and other do-able things like adding cold air feeds is about it for me ATM!

indeed, although i have a sizeable CAF, i removed the lip of the NACA duct (though i doubt this helps anything as its in the wrong place to feed the filter unless theres a group A box that hooks up with it that ive seen, ive hit a 'suggested' 1.5bar on the gauge in the cold temps weve been having, and ive never experienced anything remotley like a fuel cut.........yet anyway. A rolling road is needed to find out just what its doing i think.......

thats what i thought but after posting on here it seems the gauge may not me the most accurate thing on earth :muhaha: It cant be doing that, it would of gone bang by now?? Ive no ther way of knowing as ive nothing to compare it against. But no fuel cuts if they are as violent as described.....

You would know if you'd got them!! Very violent.
Unless you've had some internal work I hope your gauge is out! :muhaha:

well ive no idea if anythings been done to it, its possible i suppose but its more likely the gauge is out. Maybe at a meet sometime i could get someone whos had a few to drive it and see what they think. the guy i bought it off said 'it was quick for a four' but i took that with a pinch of salt....it did seem bloody quick to me because i came from a V6 mondeo!!!. He did have a selection of VIII's there though so i dont really know. Anything i can look at to see? It already came with an apexi filter and HKS gauge stuff, so someone somewhere must have spent a little on it....

Well I dont think there's any obvious signs but one may be do you still have the MAF? Is the turbo standard do you know??
Without looking a lot more closely it hard to say, IE just whipping the ecu and having a look.
