TYRES

Had a look at the tyres today, The rears have about 4mm left but are 245/40/17 pilots!! the fronts have about 2-3mm left but are well down on the inner side. Would you replace the front two now or give it 2-3 months and do the whole lot? And would you go for either, Proxies or bridgestones?

I had some toyo proxies on a civic and found them great tyres, really good wet grip too. Some have said the sidewalls are a little soft for evos, but you can compensate with a bit more pressure.

I had a set of fuldas on my yellow 7 when i collected it, and i wasn't very impressed. They seemed a bit hard and didn't give me much confidence, but they were brand new and i didn't give them chance to run in and lose that new tyre greasyness. They are low price tyres though.

I hate bridgestone, although i've not tried the SO range, only the RE ones. On my integra they were very hard and would bounce the front of the car around. Good wear, but horrible to drive on.

I've got yokohama AO-48 semi slicks on at the moment, they're pretty good, and can cope with wet conditions up to standing water, matt has run a few more miles on his though and they don't have a long life. Very good dry grip though.

Personally i think i'll be sticking with the AO-48s, but i do rate proxies (particularly as an all waether tyre, and at a good price too), although the Dunlop F1s are very similar and may have a stronger sidewall.

Thanks for the informed reply Dral Thought as much re the Fulda's. Will probably go for the proxies. Black circle do them for £102.58 and I can probably can them fitted for £30.00 inc valves and balance at a friends garage.

No problem mate, just my expeience, tyres can be a very personal thing, some people love bridgestone, i think they're

I got my proxies from black circles too, they have good prices. When you get them fitted get stick on rather than clamp on weights, they look tidier and stop your rims getting marked.

No probs mate, as I said It's a mate who'll be fitting them while I watch! Wouldn't trust just anybody with the rims.
