Oh Arse!!! Clutch is slipping, ideas on replacement?, cost?

Fairly sure the clutch is on the way out, norm story revs rising then suddenly power actually catches up.

So it needs replacing. Easy job or not? How many hours should I expect to be charged for it for the labour? (bearing in mind my manifold bill etc!!)

Within a week or so I may be looking at having my remap and going to about 400bhp @ the flywheel, so is it worth me upgrading the standard clutch, if so with what? (traders feel free to quote me some prices etc, ta)

My Dad's in the motor trade and has a workshop with ramps, mechanic etc, but he's no Jap car expert so is it worth me paying someone to do it, or should I ask him to attempt it, means no labour cost for me this route.

Had a wicked weekend and then something like this happens and you just think, "Oh bl00dy bugger!!"

Hi Russ

Yep,ur right, bugger.Sounds like clutch to me.

There are several options, firstly, are you looking to do any sprints or 1/4 mile runs?Do you sit in much traffic?Would expect around 4-5 hrs labour. Is he confident with doing a clutch change?

Many thanks

Lloyd

Clutch change shouldnt be a prob for him, done hundreds over the years, just suspected it'll be a nightmare on an Evo?

1/4 mile runs, yep prob. Sit in some traffic I suppose as essentially the car is a toy more than anything else as I live where I work. Suppose I should go better than standard then?

You've prob worked out this may hold up the remap!!

Hi Russ

If hes confident with changing clutchs, cant really see it being a problem,if he is unsure about anything,im at the end of the phone.
On the clutch front, would have to recomend the RPS Max Street. It is available as an organic or paddle. But with the organic having a 500 lb/ft torque rating its more than happy with launches. It also has a replacable plate so if it eventually goes, you dont have to have a complete clutch There are various other options Exedy,AP Racing,Alcon but the RPS is our biggest seller and is what i would personally recomend. :-)

The re-map isnt a problem buddy, its here when you need it :-)

Mechanic reckons if he can have a look at it first and whack it on the ramp he'll be able to do it, said i'd help out anyway. Presume its done from underneath?

Has been suggested on the other forum I should budget for the flywheel as well? Yes or No?

cheers,

Russ
