Learn to drive...

...no, this isn't a dig at anyone but instead a request (and I'll keep it shortish - which if you know me is a feat in itself).

Last June I acquired my first (and forever dreamed of, Evo). Of course I am blown away by it's performance ... but only in a straight line!

I have too much respect for the car (and probably too little natural driving ability) to 'take' corners at any sort of speed>

I don't want to do trackdays (basically every last red cent went into buying the car so mods, repairs and component replacement are not 'budgeted' for).

But I do want to REALLY appreciate the car and what it is capable of. So ... anyone out there with any suggestions? Maybe a semi or professional driver that could 'teach' me?

Or maybe best of all, is anyone aware of a 'driving school', or similar, that could help me out?

My basic desire is to be able to 'feel' the car, use it's abilities to the max but - most importantly - to be able to stay in control (and know what to do if i should - on the, errm, odd occasion - lose control).

Replies VERY welcome.

It won't break on track

Best and safest place to learn mate imho.

Or come for a blast and see how we do it

It just takes time, we were all like that once mate. I had the car a year before i could 'drive' it

With Waggy on this one, come along to a trackday and see how it's done!

It's both stupid and irresponsible to try and drive these cars to their full potential on public roads, besides the fact you'll be in a hedge before you find the limit. Roads in this country are just too bad these days

Pop along to Anglesey, I'm sure one of us will take you out for a few laps and you'll soon be itching to try one yourself :muhaha:
