You can ditch the MAF if you upgrade the ECU. Basically you need one that works via a manifold sensor instead. It's quite common to ditch the MAF as it's a bit of a restriction on the intake.
But, you're looking at the best part of £2000 to switch the ECU. It should give you a good power increase, much better power delivery and maybe better economy. I'm not sure what ECUs are available for your Lancer though. The stock ECU will only run with a MAF though.

if i changed the air mass meter to an evo 3's and got all the intake piping for the throttle body and cold intake also from an evo 3, would that work? or would the ecu throw a paddy with that? as im not too keen on going to the extent of changing the turbo etc as i intend to have the car for around 6 months (over the winter) or so.
just want it running right as the moment its hesitant as chuff |

im not to sure if it is, (or i hope it aint), ive got new ht leads on order as they are foobared and keep popping off, which is annoying and is causing problems.
also the wire to the sensor in the aam is corroded and broke, when i took it off and bent it to make contact again the car flew how it should do but as i expected its broken contact again and the check engine light has been on since............i want to go back to me honda, never had any of this lol |
