Oil questions(related to my evo so dont move it Bazza!!)

Righto i have been using Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer in my RS Turbos for a few years now and it DOES seem to make the engine run smoother as I believe it does exactly what it says on the tin !

I did use it briefly in my evo4 but when the oil filter fell of at brands hatch it didnt make much of a difference anyway(cheers Nick of Nick and Diane fame ).

I was wondering if any of you have come accross it or use it as it makes a hell of a difference to the properties of oil when hot and has a magnatec sort of effect when cold which eliminates dry starts.
It also raises oil pressure.

Anyway,I swear by it but I just wanted some opinions from some of you.

Cheers
Liam

wouldn't personally use any friction modifier or additive............................

simply use a good quality oil (Motul, Millers, etc) and change with filter on a yearly or 5000mile interval (more for hard trackday/competition use!!)

I've always been told to avoid magnetec on the basis that it can magnetise engine parts which can build up loose bits of metal.

I'm not too sure whether that really happens, but i've tended to use more conventional synthetic oil.

I have tried oil addatives, and wont use them anymore. This is for 3 reasons a) it adds another $15 to my already $70 oil changes b)its not needed by manafacturer c)gummed up my valves in my vw.

I from the ones ive used and seen,(ive used Lucas) just weights the oil and stickys it up, ya, that keeps components cooler and coated in oil, but i cant run in a pool of knee deep honey, and wouldnt expect my engine too.

Good oil (Motul, Mobile1 Syntec) changed properly ( i change every 3000km) will do the best job possible. And my last Golf Mk2 lastest to 450xxxkm and that was with rally sprinting.

Hope that helps,
Dave

if it was as good as they claim then the oil companies would throw this in the mix.............................

as above simply use a high quality oil and forget the rest!!

and yes certain "improvers" do damage your engine in the longer term

Personally I agree with the above

i would never use it in any of ours or our customers cars

Use a high quality oil thats all you need
