time to improve power

just missed out on a powerengineering ecu reasonably priced intended to fit now then later add boost controller so not overspending.
would it be worth my while fitting controller now, what extra can i expect?
looking at blitz dual sbc spec s or apexi avc-r or greddy profec b-spec 2 11,read a fair bit cant figure which is best.
V is standard except for dump valve, stainless exhaust and decat pipe.
did a run against wifes saphire cosworth straight line 1/4 mile its stage 1 chipped pulls 290bhp(but is around 350kilos heavier) and the cossie pulled ahead at the start (not by much) with the V just about level at the 1/4 mile mark.did redline the V as wasnt looking at gauge and it briefly cut (presume fuel cut) so want to improve the performance.
any advice appreciated

Peter if you are going to start modding then you want to uprate your fuel pump first.
Have you had a decat or a good aftermarket exhaust fitted yet?
A good induction kit is also a must.
These really all should be done to open up the engines breathing before fitting a boost controller/ecu.

cheers for reply.
already decat and better exhaust fitted(kept cat for mot).
read some articles that say uprate fuel pump,a couple saying dont need to - confusing.
for a good induction kit wont i need a battery relocation kit 1st or is there one doesnt need that doing?
can see modding costs snowballing lol

Battery relocation would be your best bet with a nice cold air box.
The fuel pump i would change because its just a bit more insurance on the fuel delivery side and for what it costs i think anyone would be daft not to.

pete here is my 2p worth if you want it made as iv just had a boat load of stuff done to the MAK

you really need to open up the breathing on the beast
apexi/HKS induction kit would be a good start with an induction hard pipe if you feel that way inclined. yes a cold air box kit with battery relocation is the muts nuts way to go but its not the necessary route(is expensive  )

yoiu seem to have the best part of the zorst system done(wot you running?) but may i suggest a magnex/apexi downpipe also just to open it that little bit more

you really do need to fit an uprated fuel pump if your gonna up the boost. the standard 1 just wont do the jop mate.

now this is where there are different trains of thought........................................... ...........do you need to uprate your injectors and fit a fuel regulator???????
now iv just hafd power fc an apexi avcr fitted to the MAK and i have had niether of these mods done
but the 5 may well need them (speak to Rich evo4) he can tell you more

as for wot boost controller????????????????????? well i didnt think twice about getting the apexi

and once its in and doing its thing they are really easy to get used to using

im currently running 1.5bar max boost and the mak pulls like a $2hooker on 50quid bet

happy modding mate kennyp

I'd agree with getting your induction sorted, with a good cold air feed (although that really only an issue when your standing round a lot) A boost controller, personally i like the Blitz ID-III, it's tidy in the cabin and gives some good data, the SBC is good to, just a bit more basic.

I'd recommend the safety of a fuel pump, it probably not vital unless you're going over about 1.5 bar, of if your pump's aging a bit. But moses is selling these with the fitting kit for £85 delivered, so it's cheap safety and will be useful for future upgrades.

I'd leave the downpipe myself, i'm told the stock one is good to about 400bhp,.

After that you're into big cost engine mods.

Other things to consider might be braided brake lines and 5.1 fluid, these give a very good brake feel, air ducting to add to cooling or possibly ferrodo or pagid pads. Good brakes help you go faster.

I'd hope that the cut you got was just hitting the rev limiter a fuel cut happens when the ECU senses an over boost, you shouldn't be getting that till you get up 1.3-1.4 bar (although i could be wrong i'm not so familar with the V).

Bazza got good results with the standard ecu and a boost controller set to 1.25bar.

I've got a fuel pump and GReddy Profec B Spec II being fitted this sunday (isn't that right Mat ). Hopefully running 1.5bar with my RA ecu, decat, exhaust, plugs & filter, I should see 350bhp or so. I'll let you know next week what I think of the GReddy.

I got my Walbro fuel pump from here for £85 delivered. Quick service too. 8)
