Hi Guys hope your all well.

I'm heading out shortly to get my alarm and i can't decide on which is the better or if the prices quoted are reasonable, take a look and let me know.

Clifford Concept 300 (Cat 1) £349 (inc. vat)

or

Toad Ai606 (Cat 1) £249 (inc. vat)

Cheers lads and lassies, your help is most appreciated

Hi mate, I have a Toad Ai606 and all in cost me £400 fitted - I think these are straightforward and reliable.

The missus has a Clifford Concept cat 1 on her coupe, not really keen - also have had friends who have complained about theirs.

My choice, definately Toad!

IMO obviously!!

Cheers guys much appreciated.

The Toad sounds good but i live in an area where car theft is quite high and alot of people say that its not as good as the Clifford, but you guys own them first hand so cheers for the advice.

The guy i went and spoke to has offered me a deal, he doesn't sell the Concept 300 anymore coz its about 6-7 years old now, but instead is offering the new Concept 650 which comprises of;

G5 Thatcham Alarm Blackjax
515U Smart self-powered siren (with 2 auxillary channels)
1x Carbon fibre 'Radar' remote control and 1x 'OEM' remote control
Glass tamper sensors
Tilt & Motion sensors
Duel Proximity Sensors
Ultrasonics (?)

And he's gonna throw in the Intellistart 4, for £500.

Terminator showed me his Intellistart on Sunday, that alone was enough to sell it to me! Fantastic piece of kit! :muhaha:

i had a Toad A606 on my last VII, and i have a Clifford 500 on my current one.

The toad is perfectly good basic alarm, i found a good mobile fitter who installed it for me for £200. Good value and it was very reliable.

The Clifford was on the car when i got it, i alway thought they were over priced for gadgets that lost there novelty. It was terrible for false alarms when i got it, but i got the programming software for it and with a bit of fiddling it work perfectly now. I was amazed at how configurable it was too and it's easy to intergrate a turbo timer (although strictly speaking use of it voids the Thacham rating).

In summary if you like messing with setting an having an alarm that behave also exactly as you want, get the Clifford if you have the spare cash.

If you want a cheap, basic alarm you don't have to faf with, get the Toad.

In my opinion both will protect your car equally well.

We've got a Clifford Concept 650 with anti hijack on the S2000..

Works great but is very sensitive.. Also got to remember to enter the 4 digit code everytime you start the car and when ANY door is opened after starting the car up.. Pain in the arse IMHO

I paid £440 inc fitting and VAT on the 650 with different sensors [as its a convertable] and remote boot release.. I think he wanted £40 for the remote engine start.. Took a bit of haggling mind..

So I guess £500 isn't a bad deal.. Try getting them down to £450 for cash :?:
