Ok well I have never seen this myself. But, for the ultimate in colour co-ordination and customisation, can you get coloured tires? Is anything like that available?
Well there is that vintage or retro look using whitewall tires. These tire were really popular and classy and they are making a comeback. Mind you, only a relatively small part of the tires were white - most of it was black.
I know that you can get colored tires, but its not necessarily recommended either. Tires are black because, according to Goodyear tires, carbon black is supposed to improve wear resistance and wet traction.
Interesting topic and thought. I must admit I had never considered coloured tires. I don't know that it's a trend that will ever catch on I just always thought tires were supposed to be black!
You know, my fear would be that coloured tires would be like coloured soles on trainers. You know the ones that got banned from gyms in school because they kept leaving coloured streaks all over the gym floors?
I'd be afraid of coloured streaks for miles down the road behind me.
Haha, they would leave colored tracks! hehehe I've never in my life seen any tires besides white wall that were any color besides solid black. I'm not sure if I'd like them or not. I'm just so hooked on "they must be black" "tires are black" I'd be afraid of tearing the very fabric of reality by creating a pair of say, purple tires... lol
I saw one of these on MTV's Pimp My Ride.
But I agree with Silversong, it was made that way because it serves a purpose. Its for utility and durability. If you want it too last longer, then stick with the basics! :-)
I saw just last night a show that had a pink car on it-I can't remember the name of the show. But the car had pink walled tires on, perfectly matching the shade of the car, rather than white.
I am not sure if that is because they were custom painted or bought that way as the show wasn't about the car.
In response to chickonwheels, what's always been isn't always unimprovable. New technology comes out every day that improves on and drastically changes the way things are done. I love science!
