Longest Wearing Tires

Alright since I am pinching pennies to run my evo, I need to make things last as long as possible. I don't drive it hard, so that's not an issue.

What tires would last the longest? I have a mate who only ever buys re-moulds and that thought just scares me to death! So what would you recommend as being real long lasting and still good value for money?

Re-moulds are good to play around in, but nothing serious like constant driving back and forth to work. What brands have you looked at so far?

Sorry for sounding silly, but what is a remould? Is it just like where tires are melted down and remade or something? What would be wrong or scary with that?
