doing tappets on an evoII

hi, my evo tappets get noisy it seems to do it when you come down idle but it soon clears, and not all the time ,it also does it if you have been giving it a hard time. do you need to take the cams off to change them? and do you get uprated ones?

thanks mate, it doesnt seem right to be sticking a crow bar into the internals of an evo engine, but what the hell i will give it a go. if it stops it rattling for cheap why not

give it a go its gonna be cheaper than someone else sticking a crow bar in your engine.

Get yoursef some Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 and you'll hear the difference :-)

Easier and cheaper method than doing the lashers just yet, worth it to see if it helps

Cleaning the lashers only helps for a short while though, before long you'll be back to the same old rattling again

I would have to agree with Tina here, if we use any other oil other than Silkolene Pro S 10w - 50 our tappets/lash adjusters tick like hell. With the silkolene the only time you hear them rattle is when it's due for a oil change.

i put millers 10/60 in it and it got very noisy, then i was told the car was meant to have 10/40,when i changed oil to this it got a lot better. but when i got the car which was only a few thousand miles ago, it made no noises what so ever even on start up.

to be honest i would try the oil as stated first because if its not the oil and you have to replace the tappits then atleast you have the proper oil inside the car.
