Not all scoobs are slow...

A good mate of mine, Mike Tuckwood owns a subaru specialist company called Scoobymania, some of you ex scooby owners may have heard of them. Anyhow, I still buy my octane boost from him, and use him for some servicing work on my evo. He does a great job and doesn't charge the earth for it either. Last saturday, I popped over to see him, and he showed my his newly completed jdm STi7 which he has been modding.
It still runs standard internals, with a hybrid T3/T4 turbo, Gems ecu, 650cc injectors, front mount ic (Pace I think), scoobymania's own 3" exhaust etc etc.
It had just been assembled and was running a 'rough' map, but he took me out for a quick demo. I have to say it was f****** quick! It was only running 1.5bar, but on a wet straight road, when it hit full boost at circa 4k revs in 3rd gear, it started to wheelspin! We spent a most enjoyable time scaring pedestrians with the anti-lag too!
He was having it mapped by Steve Simpson today at G-Force, and dropped my a text tonight: 452bhp & 380Ib/ft. 8)
I know at one time, scoobs were known for their fragile engines, but the new age STis seem much stronger. I still prefer the evo , but a mightily impressive result, I'm sure you'll agree.
He's also doing 2.5l conversions too now...

Just thought I'd share that with you! 8)

I did say something along those lines to him!
Having said that, being a tuner, it's a case of suck it and see I suppose. No doubt if it goes bang he'll drop in a 2.5l US spec block.
Did I mention it's on standard cams too? Impressive stuff. 8)

edit for crep spolling

450bhp is enough for road use IMHO.. Anything more than that and you upset the balance of the car.. :-?

sweet mate, agreed I think the newer scoobs are a bit stronger, but with 450bhp being made on standard internals it wont last long LOL

the old adage "she was going great until......" LOL

bet it flys though mate, and I bet it lasts a surprisingly long time, love scoobies.

Guess we'll find out...
I still love scoobs, and this one sounds the absolute nuts, especially with the anti-lag switched on. 8)
