Honda NSX-R

At the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show Honda introduced a revised version of the NSX first launched in 1990. The striking white prototype hinted to a future performance version of the NSX. The normal version of the revised NSX was introduced in December 2001 and the performance version was introduced a couple of months later, dubbed NSX-R.
Because of Japanese rules and regulations the engine could not be upgraded from the 280 bhp of the 'standard' NSX. Honda engineers thus had to look for other ways of improving the performance. Weight reduction is what they went for and they managed to get the kerb weight down by 70kg. For the NSX-R Honda applied new aerodynamic technologies to achieve a high level of stability and control.
For the moment the NSX-R is only available in Japan.
