Don't risk it is a good idea to stick with. Some evos sit low to the ground, and while it may look as it clears, your right you really don't know how deep it is. I did this once in a non evo car, and ended up being stuck, as the water had damaged the roadway and ended up lifting and moving a chunk of the road out that I couldn't see.
